The main difference between a distributed version control system and a classic centralized version control system is that the DVCS is able to promote faster development since every system in the network receives its own up to date copy of the new software. #SUBLIME MERGE VS SOURCETREE INSTALL#The development process is one of the biggest areas of contention when it comes to distributed version control systems, but SourceTree makes it so simple that you don't really have to do anything except install the software and get to work. The development model used by both Mercurial and Git is a bit branchy in terms of how it progresses, but that helps make the process more efficient overall while maintaining clean repositories with little or no junk data. This means the software is designed to work with the existing workflow found in those distributed version control systems. These tools are more than comprehensive enough for even the most talented Mercurial and Git developers.Īs soon as the SourceTree software is downloaded and installed, it will be able to handle Hg-flow and Git-flow. #SUBLIME MERGE VS SOURCETREE PATCH#The software is capable of patch handling, shelving, stashing, rebasing, change-set reviews, and branch cherry-picking. ![]() The software is excellent at what it does, so if you are already adept at Mercurial and Git, you'll be able to reach new heights of productivity. One of the best things about SourceTree is that it can still be used by professionals even though it is simple enough for beginners. All of those functions are as simple as a single click in the software. #SUBLIME MERGE VS SOURCETREE HOW TO#It has the ability to teach users how to deal with Mercurial and Git, and you can use the software to pull, push, merge, clone, commit, create, and much more. If you have no experience with DVCS, SourceTree is one of the best options on the market. #SUBLIME MERGE VS SOURCETREE FULL#Repositories that are either hosted onsite or offsite can be managed from the intuitive SourceTree user interface in the desktop app, and you'll have full access to everything that Mercurial and Git can do. You won't have to deal with the command line anymore when you use the power of SourceTree. Either DVCS can be used in the software, and you can take advantage or subversion servers with the software as well. This is the same as Git Client SmartGit which looks worth trying but is only free for non-commercial use.įor a very basic "diff with Git" then take a look at Meld.Īnother interesting looking tools is Sublime Merge - Git, done Sublime however it is not free but does look good.Overall Opinion: If you need to work with Mercurial or Git, there are few ways that are simpler or faster than SourceTree. I got as far as needing qmake to install PyQt and gave up!Īnother popular tool is Git GUI Client for Windows Mac and Linux | Axosoft GitKraken but it is only free for non-commercial use on Windows, Mac & Linux. I have looked at Git Cola: The highly caffeinated Git GUI but it is more difficult to install on Windows as it needs Git for Windows, Python and PyQt. In my experience it does not play well behind a proxy server. #SUBLIME MERGE VS SOURCETREE FOR MAC#I have used SourceTree | Free Git and Hg Client for Mac and Windows a little, it seems to need an Atlassian account to install but after that was fine. ![]() It is not an IDE but rather a git client. Hopefully this functionality will make it to the Mac version before too long.Ī product I need to try out is Fork - a fast and friendly git client for Mac and Windows, mostly because it was recommended by Scott Hanselman on Twitter but also because many people seem to like it and it is free, so this is definitely something to try out. There are other IDEs available and they should also give you the necessary git support.Ī favourite edior of mine is UltraEdit and it has a companion product called UltraCompare, which on Windows supports file comparison in git, which is very handy. For Java development I mostly use IntelliJ IDEA: The Java IDE for Professional Developers by JetBrains and again this has everything you need for git based software development. From what I can tell, it does everything you need it to, at least for regular development work with git. I have been using Visual Studio Code for file editing and as a Git client and I have found it actually works very well. Naturally an Integrated Development Environemt, or IDE should support git out of the box. See Git for Windows for further info for Windows and a link to their GitHub repository. The basic, default Git for Windows client does include a GUI, however this is not the case on other platforms. ![]() ![]() Dogecoin mining dogecoin core driver#While its popularity can be partly attributed to its fun factor and lively online community, the cryptocurrency project has also made headlines by raising funds for the Jamaican Bobsled Team which qualified but was unable to afford to attend the Sochi Winter Olympics in 2014, and for sponsoring NASCAR driver Josh Wise in the same year.Īrguably, Dogecoin's biggest promoter, however, has been tech pioneer Elon Musk. If you don’t have the mental fortitude for hack and slash games like Diablo, the former may be a bit too repetitive for your liking. The gameplay loop mainly involves dungeon crawling and world building. The fact that you can skip cutscenes is an excellent feature in hindsight, especially for veterans who play it regularly. This goes for the great supporting cast of playable heroes and any old random NPC you’ll meet along the way. It may have all of the makings of a standard fantasy narrative, but true to Level-5’s name, nearly everyone you meet along the way is charming enough to bring a smile to your face. Due to this odd Wii U oversight, both versions are equally competent in the aural department. Color zen alternative tv#Tiny 3DS speakers don't do the music justice, so this is definitely one you'll want to play with headphones on – something you have to do on Wii U as well, as strangely the Wii U version's audio is GamePad-only with no support for TV audio to enjoy the music through your expensive home speaker system. You can listen to it on Spotify to hear for yourself, but the low price of admission for the game is worth it just to listen to Woodzell's spacious, calming electronica. The impressively robust electronic soundtrack, composed by Steve Woodzell, is without a doubt the highlight of Color Zen. In addition, the 3DS version of the game has short load times between levels – they're minimal compared to other games, but noticeably longer than the nearly-invisible load times of the Wii U version. Color zen alternative portable#Revolving around geometric shapes, Color Zen is all about clean straight lines and perfect circles it's unfair to compare the graphics of a portable system to those of a home console, but naturally the 3DS version doesn't look quite as crisp as its Wii U sibling (which has issues of its own in this regard, as the graphics on the TV screen are smoother than the ones on the GamePad). This comes partly out of necessity, as all the gameplay is designed for the touch screen and there's not much extraneous data that needs to be shown on a second screen, but the colour palette is so vivid and integral to the experience that it's a shame the upper screen is so dark and bland by comparison. The first thing you'll notice upon loading up Color Zen on 3DS is that it takes place almost entirely on the touch screen the upper screen is used solely to display the game's logo and occasional text, like level titles or menu options. In most other departments, however, the Wii U's higher horsepower makes it the definitive iteration. We noted in our previous review that the puzzles can start to feel repetitive after extended playtime, but in the shorter bursts of gameplay the 3DS lends itself to, this isn't nearly as much of a problem on the handheld – so in that regard, the 3DS version is superior to its home console brethren. The only major differences between the two versions come down to the hardware. ![]() Many of the levels resemble abstract geometric art, and there are a few different modes that switch up the play mechanics – most notably the clever "Reflection" mode in which every shape you move is mirrored by a shape on the opposite side of the screen, and you have to manage both sides of the reflection to complete the puzzle. A helpful tutorial shows you the basic rules of gameplay, and then you're on your own for over a hundred levels of artistic, cerebral shape-based puzzling. It's the perfect candidate for a 3DS port, as its purely touch-based controls and the puzzles' quick pick-up-and-play style are designed with portable gaming in mind – Color Zen was originally created as an iOS/Android title, after all.įor the most part, everything in our Wii U review applies to this version as well the 3DS port has the same clever levels, the same striking minimalist aesthetic, and the same drop-dead gorgeous music that steals the show. This week the chilled-out title arrives on 3DS largely intact it's essentially the same game, shrunk down to the small screen(s). Last month we reviewed the Wii U version of Color Zen, a relaxing abstract puzzler in which you match geometric shapes with colours as a soothing electronica soundtrack plays in the background. ![]() |
